Aims and Objectives

The overall aim of this one-day workshop is to improve the analyst’s confidence and ability to produce quality intelligence products.

The objective of this workshop is to develop the analyst’s ability to extract meaning from data description, and improved their hypotheses and inference construction skills.

Content

On conclusion of this is a one-day workshop the delegate will be able to:

  • Describe the Intelligence Cycle and Process.
  • Describe the components of Analysis and explain its role in developing intelligence.
  • Extract statements, construct premise’ and create hypothesis.
  • Explain what types of Inference may be constructed.
  • Construct an Inductive Inference that is structured correctly.
  • Describe the logical errors that may be made in constructing an Inference.
  • Describe the different types of Recommendations that might be written.
  • Construct recommendations that are SMART

Target Audience

This workshop is suitable for persons in the public or private sectors who are involved in the analysis of criminal, illegal or prohibited activity ranging from terrorism through to volume crime such as burglary, to breach of contract to internal fraud. It is suitable for Law Enforcement personnel involved in analysis or research including crime and intelligence analysts. In addition it is also suitable for Analyst/Researchers within agencies such as the Local Government departments, Trading Standards, Criminal Case Review Commission, HM Prison Service, OFT, UK Border Agency, HMCR, RMP, RNRB, RAFP and Gangmasters Licensing Authority etc. Commercial organisations employing Analysts/Researchers would also find the workshop beneficial.

 Registration & Duration

Registration opens at 08:30 and the workshop begins at 09:00.

A buffet lunch will be served at 12 noon; in addition there will be a 15 minute coffee break at 10:30 and again at 14:30.

Location
This module will be delivered in the classroom at our selected training location in Wakefield. Should the location be different this will be evident on the booking form.

Our courses have two forms of assessment, Continual Trainer Assessment and Graded Assessment. To be awarded course credit, and obtain an end of course certificate with regards to Graded Assessment, you must achieve an overall pass grade (60% or more) and complete all modules of the course.
